Your homework for Week 1 is to start a blog for keeping your journal. I recommend WordPress, but any standard blogging software will do. WordPress.com offers free hosting with little fuss.
For this week’s journal, I would like you to think and write about the following:
- Why are you doing this subject? What interests you about games? What kinds of games would you like to play? To make? What do you hope to learn?
- Think about the question: Why do so many games involve guns?
Make sure your journal entry contains a link back to this article. The automatic trackback mechanism should then create links in the other direction.
Give your tutor the URL for your blog in next week’s class. If you will be using an existing blog, please make sure you tag the COMP4431 entries so we don’t have to read all your reflections on breakfast or how cool Old Spice Guy is.

Hey Malcolm,
The Trackback isn’t working… on Blogger there’s a Link field I can put the URL in, is it the Trackback Address or just the URL of this blog entry I put in there? Is the link to my blog entry meant to just come up underneath this entry?

Trackbacks won’t appear until I approve you (which may take up to a week, since I only really work on COMP4431 on Tue/Wed).
Once you’ve been approved the first time, it should work immediately thereafter.
